Guilin, China Running Route: 4 miles with Olympic Stadium laps
Running in Guilin, China
Like other cities in China, Guilin has broad sidewalks and bike lanes. It's easy to strap on your shoes and head out the door for a flat run anywhere in Guilin. Guilin is hot and humid in June, but the cloud cover keeps the sun's rays tempered. If you're visiting in the summer months, plan to be sweat-soaked.
This particular out-and-back course is nice because it has few street crossings and includes four laps around the Olympic Stadium complex (inspiring!). It's also scenic, with a river crossing and beautiful views of the karst landscape in the distance. The Garmin data in China is a little off, so I’ll explain the course. The starting point is city-center, in Anxincun, running across two bridges (Cuizhu Road) and making a right turn after the second bridge onto Chuanshan Alley road. You’ll run along the riverside until you reach the entrance to Chuanshan park. Make a left turn, crossing the street onto Yifeng Road. Continue straight until you reach the Olympic Stadium, where you can lap to your heart’s content. The course is easy to see/follow in Google Maps.
