Hoi An, Vietnam Running Route: 5 or 6 Miles Go EARLY!

Running in Hoi An, Vietnam

Hoi An is a vacation hot spot for much of Asia. There are resort hotels with sparkling pools, massage spas every 10 meters, and upscale restaurants galore. People visit Hoi An to relax, shop, dine, and pamper themselves. What does that mean for the wackos like you and I who love to run? It means that we have to time our workouts to avoid the mad crush of selfie-stick-toting tourists who mob Ancient Town after 10:00 a.m. This 5 mile-ish route assumes that you will begin and end your run before 10:00 a.m. It was meant to be a 6 mile course, but we left a taddy-bit late and ended up having to walk through Ancient Town in the last mile (...steam...). You can also extend the route to the beach, adding about another mile or so. We bicycled the route and I assure you that the palm trees are worth it!

FWIW: We attempted a route that avoided Ancient Town, but due to construction, it was unsafe. We could find no other obvious route during our short stay in Hoi An. This route, if run early, is actually really nice and you'll have Ancient Town all to yourself.
