Running in Cat Ba, Vietnam

You do not really need a map to run this course, if you find yourself in the remote farming commune of Viet Hai on Cat Ba Island, Vietnam. There is only a single road from the village to the port and it is exactly 5 kilometers. But I thought I would post this run to entice you to visit Viet Hai, an alternative destination to the craziness of Halong Bay.

We stayed in the tiny hamlet at the Lan Homestay for three nights and four days. Our host provided three nutritious meals a day to fuel our running, hiking, and kayaking adventures: banana pancakes and fresh-picked fruit for breakfast, pho noodle soup loaded with veggies for lunch, and a well-balanced dinner of rice, seafood, spring rolls, and fruit for dinner. I think the tranquility and clean air of this peaceful village did more for our health and well-being than the actual exercise!
